During her time in Shoreline, Luces division between angels and demons becomes blurry when she discovers that Daniel and Cam are fighting side by side. I don't think I've ever felt so many emotions for a book, series and set of characters ever before. Discovering some of her past lives, Luce realizes how their love hurt the thousands of families she once lived with. This book had me hooked on every single word, Lauren has yet again outdone herself. I love the way Lauren Kate writes exciting, accessible love stories with tortuous philosophical conundrums and a strong literary vein - there for those who wish to find it, but not intrusive for those who don't * Katy Moran * the ones everyone has been waiting for - Donna * Book Passion for Life * Lauren Kate's FALLEN IN LOVE is filled with love stories. I'd recommend you have a tissue ready * Book Passion For Life *įallen In Love is a must for any Lauren Kate fan! * Notes of Life * I think I enjoyed this story the most because it was fantastic to see Arriane in a different light but her story sure was heart-breaking. Well, let me tell you this story definitely is unpredictable. I've always been a fan of Arriane, I really like her and her character is so unpredictable.

5/11/2023 0 Comments Rivers solomon sorrowlandIntent on surviving the challenging environment of the wild woods, but burdened by her past and distrust of others, Vern slowly begins to forge connections with others, a highlight of which is her relationship with Native American Gogo and Bridget. With vitality and rage, this unapologetic, atmospheric, imaginative and lyrical storytelling takes in race, identity, gender, sexuality, misogyny, religion, motherhood, mental health issues, conspiracy theories, the damning state experimentations undertaken on black bodies. Hunted, the haunted Vern gives birth to twins, Feral and Howling, raised with curiosity at the heart of their unstructured lives. Vern is a 15 year old traumatised and abused albino black girl, 7 months pregnant who flees the Cainland cult for the woods, however, the community have no intention of letting her go. An alternative world that touches on numerous critical contemporary issues, and the hate, brutality, violence, sorrow and tragedies of American history. This is an astoundingly ambitious and harrowing novel from Rivers Solomon, destined to be one of 2021 must reads, a stellar sci-fi fantasy Gothic Horror, although it has to be said in many ways it defies easy categorisation. 5/11/2023 0 Comments Wrightson a look backIn 1968, he showed copies of his sequential art to DC Comics editor Dick Giordano and was given a freelance assignment. Today’s spotlight is firmly shining on a captivating middle grade book, Moonchild: Voyage of the Lost and Found by Aisha Bushby, with illustrations by Rachael Dean. Stedman shakes up everything you think you know about the existence of black and white solutions and she highlights the sheer vulnerability that comes from being human in ways that I don't think I've ever seen an author do so beautifully before. And then, when I did finally pluck up the courage to reach the end of the final page, I thought about the book for days afterwards. I read the last sentence with a tight knot in my throat, unwilling to let the story end just yet. I devoured the book in less than a week, which, when you consider I am only home for a couple of hours each evening (and I need to shower and eat in that time), is quite impressive.ĭespite its slow start, the book builds momentum and by the time I reached the end I was in a flurry of panic. In all honesty, I found the first chapter a bit slow going. 5/10/2023 0 Comments Tailspin book john armbrusterIt’s a story of two men’s separate journeys confronting extraordinary grief and loss. It’s violent, but not quite violent enough. In a sea of forgettable modern fantasy titles, it offers moments of genuine originality. There’s no bigger picture here, and you can feel the lack. Colfer’s style is compelling, his language inventive, and, most importantly, his ideas are entertaining. He resides happily at the core of a novel that never quite reaches its potential but has a hell of a lot of fun trying. Vern in particular is an incendiary joy a cantankerous, lonely and existentially challenged dragon with a proverbial heart of gold – or fire. But Colfer has managed to produce something fresh and infinitely readable here. It’s incredibly hard to write an original fantasy novel. And while this gives Colfer a whole new palate of linguistic flair and colloquialisms to play with, it also, strangely, limits his traditionally expansive storytelling style. Primarily because it’s set in a swamp in Louisiana in southern United States. But that’s not exactly what we’re getting with Highfire. The ems to be, is there space for Colfer’s specific brand of Irish wit within this already crowded space?. 5/10/2023 0 Comments Abnkkbsnplako bookThe humor in this book reminded me of that same guy who said he liked reading Bob Ong. Often found myself giggling in amusement from what I was reading. I like that it was also told in a very humorous way. Our school life also plays a big role in how we become as we grow up and how we deal with things out there in the real world as adults. I learned a lot and I don’t just mean from my subjects. There are good memories from my school days. I studied in a private school but the stories he shared of his school life had a lot of similarities from my own.Īs someone who studied in one school from kindergarten until high school, I knew almost everyone by the time I reached secondary school. I thought this book was very much relatable. This local author’s book has been around for years and still very relevant. A retelling of his childhood life – elementary, high school, university life and finally his adult working life. This book seems to be an autobiography of local author, Bob Ong. 5/10/2023 0 Comments Remarkably bright creaturesMarcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn't dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors - until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.Įver the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova's son disappeared.
